ACES & EIGHTS POKER CHIP RUN – JUNE 16TH, 2018
The Mississippi Wing of the Commemorative Air Force is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization based in Madison, MS at Bruce Campbell Field. We are a local representation of a worldwide organization known as the Commemorative Air Force. We are charged with the mission to acquire, restore and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of combat aircraft, which were flown by military services of the United States for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations.
The Mississippi Wing is currently closing out the restoration of a 1943 Stinson utilized by the New Jersey Civil Air Patrol during WWII. Additionally, we are in the process of acquiring a WWII PT-17 Stearman; a bi-plane trainer utilized by all the services in WWII.
Our goal is to support events that support, honor, and remember our Veterans through aviation. We work closely with the warbird owners throughout Mississippi and neighboring states to conduct flyovers, missing man formations and static displays.
We are conducting our first Poker Chip Run named; Aces & Eights. This is a representation of fighter aces and the 8th Air Force from WWII. The goal is to bring together enthusiasts in aviation, motorcycles and automobiles to showcase how we may be able to support each other. Additionally, it is a small fundraiser to help offset the costs of providing aviation assets to honor our Veterans as well as provided monies for the acquisition of a new WWII aircraft.
The run starts at the hangar at the Madison, MS airport. Registration is between 0800 – 1000. Last vehicle in by 2:30. Drinks and food provided. Route will be:
WWII Ordnance Plant at Kearney Park
John Bell Williams Airport
Buddy Butts/Camp Clinton POW area
Mississippi War Memorial Building
