News Release – 2016 Mississippi Corvette Classic

Mississippi Corvette Club, Inc. is excited to announce that the 2016 Mississippi Corvette Classic will be held at Jackson Convention Complex, 105 East Pascagoula Street, Jackson, MS 39201 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016.  The net proceeds of this, the sixth annual all-Corvette indoor car show, will be donated to Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, Inc.  Jackson Convention Complex and the Central Mississippi Chevy Dealers are major sponsors of the event.  A list of all event sponsors will appear on the Club’s website, https://mscorvetteclub.com.

The Mississippi Corvette Classic celebrates the Corvette automobile, which has been manufactured in the United States continuously since 1953.  More than 100 stock and custom Corvettes from all seven generations of the sports car will be on display at the show.  In addition, auto parts retailers, tool retailers, craftsmen, artists and a wide range of other vendors, including the National Corvette Museum, will be present.  The Club will also conduct a silent auction.  Music will be provided throughout the show and Jackson Convention Complex will offer a selection of food and beverage items from its restaurant.

The Central Mississippi Chevy Dealers will display several new Chevrolet automobiles and trucks and will also offer a Ride and Drive experience.  Members of the public attending the show will be able to drive new Chevrolet vehicles, including a new Corvette, on a road course in downtown Jackson.  Those wishing to drive a new Chevrolet should enter the show, visit the CMCD display in the back of the show floor and receive a token that will allow them to register to drive a new Chevy.  All drives will depart from the front of the Convention Complex.

While the Corvette is the theme of the show, the show is all about raising money for Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, Inc.  DFM is Mississippi’s premier nonprofit health organization working to prevent diabetes and associated complications as well as working to improve the lives of every child, adult, and family touched by Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.  DFM accomplishes these goals through education, support, advocacy, medical assistance and research.  Every dollar raised by DFM stays in Mississippi.  Representatives of DFM will be present at the show to discuss their organization, their work and diabetes.

To raise money for DFM, Mississippi Corvette Club, Inc. asks that everyone over the age of 13 donate $5.00 upon being admitted to the show.  Show contestants – those wishing to display their Corvettes in the show and compete for trophies – will pay a registration fee of $40.00.  Trophies will be awarded for the top three places in the stock and modified classes for all seven Corvette generations, as well as for best and reserve best in show.  Trophies will also be awarded to the top three contestants in the valve cover races which will be held during the show.
